SEVENTH AND EIGHTH GRADES

The seventh grade booklets examine in more detail the main parts of speech in the Russian language – a noun (a brief overview of previous classes), an adjective (short adjectives, degrees of comparison of adjectives, categories of adjectives by meaning), and a pronoun (categories and classification of pronouns). We are working on the further development of students’ spoken language. Learning to describe pictures.

The eighth grade booklets help students to better consolidate the material they have covered. In these manuals we work with such parts of speech as verb (tense, person, number), numeral (types and declension), and adverb (types, spelling). Learning to write short sketches.

NINTH AND TENTH GRADE

Summarizing the entire course, textbooks for the ninth and tenth grades help students deeply consolidate the material they have covered and better prepare for state exams in the Russian languageACTFL – American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages OPI (Oral Proficiency Interview) и WPT (Writing Proficiency Test)).

In the ninth grade booklets , we work with such parts of speech as participles and gerunds, at the same time repeat other parts of speech, and learn to write short sketches. The manuals of this class contain articles about the United States and the inhabitants of this country, without pretending to present or retell in chronological order the history of the United States. I would really like our students to know more about the country in which they live.

The tenth grade textbooks, like the entire program, help students prepare to take the ACTFL exam (oral and written). The results of this exam are recognized both at the High School level and at higher levels of the US education system. In this class, students continue to learn how to independently find information in Russian in other sources. There is a lot of emphasis on working with students on moral issues and expanding students' vocabulary in this area.
